Offers technical repair and problem diagnosis to campus Irrigation Supervisor for maintaining campus irrigation systems and fountains. Responsible for daily system checks and includes plumbing, low voltage electrical, mechanical and system control repairs. In the absence of the Irrigation supervisor will handle work task requests and overall systems oversight.
Experience: Four years progressively responsible experience in the trade(s) where assigned to include at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity. In a Non-Supervisory/Leader position, 5 years of experience is required.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Other: This position requires an incumbent to possess and a valid Class C driver’s license or equivalent valid in the State of Maryland with fewer than six (6) points.
Preferences:
Must be able to work in adverse weather and temperature extremes and be free from debilitating pollen allergies and the like. The employee must have the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and on occasion up to 100 pounds; stand and walk continuously; lift, stoop, and/or bend for extended periods of time; wear and work with the use of personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, etc.). The shift hours are from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday-Friday. Position is Essential and is subject to 24 hour day/7 day week span of operation.
